Decoding the Home Price Hype: Let’s Set the Record Straight

by Adam Gillespie

What's up, everyone? 🎸 So, here’s the latest buzz: about 23% of Americans are betting on home prices to drop in the next year. Why the skepticism?

Blame it on the doom-and-gloom headlines from 2022. There's been a ton of chatter, with everyone from your next-door neighbor to that 'real estate guru' on Instagram saying the sky's falling on home prices.

But let me break it down for you. Who would you trust more: some random article shared 5,000 times on Facebook or someone who’s in the trenches of real estate every day?

Let’s stick to facts. While prices took a tiny dip in late 2022, they're already back, strutting their stuff, and climbing the charts in 2023 (check out the graph below):

And it ain't just Fannie Mae singing this tune. Experts across the board are playing the same track. The predictions are clear: home prices are set to rock a positive trend this year. Need more? Here's another chart, showing forecasts from various organizations:

A cool thing to note: Fannie Mae just cranked up their appreciation projection for 2023 from a conservative 3.9% to a badass 6.7%. That's a pretty damn clear vote of confidence if you ask me.

So, next time someone says home prices are tanking, hit 'em with the facts.

Straight Talk Time There's a ton of noise out there about home prices, and man, a lot of it is pure garbage. But always remember: the hype isn’t always the truth.

If you're looking for the real lowdown, backed by data and expertise, you know where to find me. And if you're curious about what's happening right here in Denver, I got your back. Let's chat.
